My name is Katherine Kinghorn and have recently completed my second year of my
foundation degree in fine art practice, o passed with Merit. I have hopes to become a high school art teacher.
My goal is to become a high school art teacher because I really want to make a difference to
the students that I teach, I want to get to know them each individually and get them excited
about making things. Often students that struggle in areas such as English and maths excel in
art and all they need is a little bit of encouragement and guidance.
I would also like to with particularly with disabled students, and students with learning difficulties, I have a brother who was autistic in my son also has autism and ADHD, my son finds a lot of solace in artwork and it helps him to express his emotions and feelings in ways that he can’t verbally. I feel as a mother of a child with learning difficulties I have a good understanding and compassion towards those with extra needs, and I feel it would be very rewarding and fulfilling experience to be able to help people through art.
I work mainly with oil paints, watercolours and sculpting materials, I also create handmade designer dolls and sell them at doll shows around the country.
